Finding Molly Parsons: A Humorous Sapphic Adventure with Heart, Heat, and Hidden Family Secrets (The Lost & Found Series Book 1)

This book has everything it takes to be an awesome movie. It has great MCs that change and grow throughout the story, absolutely hilarious side characters who add color and levity to an otherwise sad and angsty story. The result is inspiring optimism wrapped in so many Lol moments. It is such a great entertainment that the book gets the easiest read-through despite some harrowing stories woven through it or hinted. I cannot wait to read the sequel, and I urge u to go and read this one asap, it will make your days brighter and put lightness in your heart. Rating: 5 stars

This was a really unique and wonderful story. I loved loved loved all the characters… they probably could have sat around reading a newspaper and I’d have loved the banter between Mateo and Carmen, the no-filter commentary from Enid, and so on. The friends in Seattle, the kids at the ranch, they all contributed. It was amazing. The actual story of searching for Molly and dealing with her brother / Faith’s parents was great too. Faith’s quest was really something new and different and fun. And it got us out of the house, meeting the excellent cast while chasing down leads and road-tripping with the crew and all. About my only hesitation is that Faith sometimes seemed a bit too wise for her life experience… well, and what are the odds of meeting somebody randomly halfway across the country and then… but I don’t want to spoil anything. Still, these are really minor gripes, because again, I’d take any number of wrinkles to spend more time with these people. Really looking forward to the next installment in June!

Okay, I loved the story, the plot, the details, the characters, all of it. The only thing I had a hard time with was the dialogue. The adults were fine, but this book heavily featured teens, and their dialogue had them, particularly the main character, sounding like fully emotionally realized 35 year olds with decade of good therapy and NVC training behind them and a well edited script in hand. They sounded more wise and emotionally regulated than the adults, almowt PSA level, right from the beginning. Which I found odd because the adults spoke much more realistically, and in line with their characters. The adult characters read like the author was trauma informed, but Faith's character did not. Nothing about how she communicated sounded like an isolated, physically and emotionally abused 18 year old girl. She just opens up to complete strangers, concisely and calmly summarizes her traumatic history and story with very little promoting within minutes of meeting them, then proceeds to be a perfectly well adjusted aside from being briefly startled a few times by emotional moments she witnesses adults around her having. She has her moments where I could see what the author was trying to do with her character but ultimately it did not really land for me. That said, I enjoyed the rest of the cast so much I will absolutely be reading book two.
