Sweet, hot on and off ice pair

ICE ICE BABYGIRL by Morgan James and Ashlyn Kane is what happens when you take one newly retired NHL goalie, aka Robbie Zieger, and pair with one ice dancer, aka Finn Graham, and feature them on Dance Your Ice Off, on national television. Throw in familial responsibilities and concerns about post retirement plans and chemistry set to ignite with the slightest spark and you’ve got a doozy of a read. Couldn’t put it down.

Robbie Zeiger is a freshly retired hockey goalie when the teenager he is basically the parent of (he’s currently fighting for custody of him) signs him up for a reality TV show where hockey players are taught to ice dance. Then through an unexpected twist, he ends up one half of the first same sex pair to be featured on the show. This was a fun and easy read. It was mostly light hearted (despite some mentions of homophobia/biphobia and transphobia), and all of the characters were so lovable (other than the ones you’re meant to dislike). I also really enjoyed that miscommunications and conflicts between the two main characters resolved rather easily and didn’t drag on. There is some kink involved in the spicy scenes so be aware if that may not be your thing. The only thing I’d really complain about is that there were a couple of parts where I was a little confused about the pacing and how the scene had developed. Tropes: 🏒hockey player/ice dancer 🏒single dad 🏒 forbidden love hockey accuracy rating: 5/5 but there is zero actual hockey content since the player is retired.

lovely domestic kid fic

Kane & James’ trademark humor and found family theme is strong in this page turner. Love the characters, who cope with early midlife changes with aplomb. Low angst, except for the transphobic grandparents, who were somewhat predictable, but in a satisfying way. Highly recommend.
