Description

Some romances are written in the stars, but for Anna, love is written in the scent of fresh herbs and the heat of a high-stakes kitchen. When a trendy reality television show descends upon Chicago to film an intense culinary competition, Anna finds herself thrust into the spotlight, balancing the pressures of a televised food contest with the unexpected magnetism of her rival. As the cameras roll and the competition turns fierce, the real drama unfolds off-screen between the ovens. Taleen Voskuni delivers a radiant, heartfelt story that celebrates the intersection of heritage, ambition, and the thrill of discovery. This gorgeous Armenian sapphic romance captures the warmth of a bustling kitchen and the slow-burn tension of two women realizing they are better together than apart. With sharp character development and a setting so vivid you can almost taste the spices, this novel offers a cozy yet exhilarating escape. Whether you are craving a story about finding yourself or a sweet, messy journey toward a new beginning, this book provides the perfect recipe for love. Lose yourself in a narrative where passion is the main ingredient and every page feels like a warm, delicious embrace.

Gorgeous foodie sapphic romcom

I wanted to get lost in this book and never escape. Voskuni does it again with another gorgeous Armenian sapphic romance, this time set in dreamy Chicago and surrounded by delicious Armenian food, the most delectable main characters, their equally sexy and adorable banter, and the delightful, entertaining rivalry of their parents. I mean, check them out on the cover—come on! Lavash at First Sight explores staying true to yourself as a first generationer while supporting your family and not being afraid to jump on love, wherever, whenever, despite everything else. I love how Voskuni digs deep on character, bringing out all the feels we experience finding love and finding ourselves, while producing another laugh-out-loud funny book. Cannot wait for many more from Voskuni!!

3 Stars - it was fine

Thank you to the publisher for an ARC copy of this novel; all opinions are my own. This was a fun read with lots of Armenian, Arab representation, a sapphic couple, bi-sexual representation, and a lot of food. I can get behind all of that. Altogether though, the highlight of this book was the one-liners from the parents. I’ll be honest, I was more interested in the parents than I was in our heroines, unfortunately. I wanted to love them, I just, kind of didn’t. They were fine. The parents were hilarious though. The food descriptions were top-tier. I was so hungry reading this book. Googling Armenian restaurants near me as we speak actually.
