Suspenseful romance
I have loved every book in this series. While childhood friends to lovers and second chance romance are two tropes I generally don't like, A.M. Rose's execution and subversion of tropes alongside the fantastical mystery of it all makes Once Bitten a very enjoyable romantic mystery.
Each book in this series feels very unique while still connecting to an overarching plot. I love how the authors have built their world and magic system to the point that it makes total sense even when each book also introduces some new discovery about that same magic system. Even though the mystery plot of the story wasn't as mind-blowing in my opinion, it's just because the bar has been set so high in their other books!
