Add another wonderful Darling Brother story to the mix.

I have read lots of wonderful books by Emmy Sanders but this one had me emotional from the start. I think it had to do with starting these two men out as children and how they loved Peter Pan, a theme continued throuhout the whole book, ah, blessed pixie dust! " Wendy gave Peter a thimble. A kiss, she called it. A youthful promise. I pull the thimble from my pocket, offering it to Oakley." " Oakley sets an acorn in the well of my palm, small and nearly weightless. Peter gave Wendy an acorn button. This is even better." We get a heartbreaking scene later in the book involving an acorn, but you read that for yourselves please! I think the author did a brillant job as Law tries to discover his sexuality. All the explanations from Oakley and Remi and others help us learn and decide right along with him. And damn I love epilogue that doesn't happen a month later. I love this whole series and really look forward to Remi's book, but this is my emotional favorite.

4⭐ Lawson and Oakley’s story was so sweet and wholesome. They’ve been best friends their entire life with a deeply rooted love that neither truly realized or acknowledged until Lawson was divorced and Oakley came back home to Montana. Lawson is exploring his sexuality and asks Oakley to be that person for him because he trusts him the most. Although hesitant at first, Oakley eventually says yes but quickly comes to terms that he has real feelings for his best friend. Their chemistry is beautiful to see. Its kind, warm and felt very natural between them. It takes Lawson a bit longer than Oakley to realize he loves his best friend because he learned after his divorce that he doesn’t experience love/lust like others. But he does recognize that Oakley is HOME and that’s where he wants to be. We still get the Darling family shenanigans as well as a sassy house mini-cow which typically created some laughable moments. I cannot wait to wrap up the series with Remi’s story later this year.

And cried soft tears... Another breathtakingly beautiful story of love in Darling, Montana. I learned things I'd never known, never would have thought I needed to. But I'm glad I did. (Two thumbs up on well written lessons about differences in sexuality.). Lawson's struggles to come to terms with how different he felt from others and his understandable confusion was heart breaking. And Oakley's belief that he'd never have what he most wanted in life wasn't any easier. There are moments of riotous joy in this story, things that make you laugh until you are breathless. We all need more laughter, more smiles. And any story that gives them to me is worth reading again and again. I'd move to Darling, Montana just to live close to these characters. I can't wait to get to know Remi better. Bring on the mallows, and the Darling whiskey!!!
