Description

Tanner thought he had hit rock bottom when he lost his job, leaving him struggling to support his four children as a widower. Desperate and out of options, he never expected his longtime best friend, Des, to offer the ultimate solution: a marriage of convenience. It sounds like a simple fix to secure health insurance and stability, but living under the same roof with the man he has secretly loved for years is anything but professional. This friends to lovers story perfectly blends humor with the messy realities of life. As Tanner and Des navigate the transition from platonic companions to fake spouses, the line between their performance and reality begins to blur. Their history is deep, their chemistry is undeniable, and the stakes have never been higher for their growing family. Dealing with the chaos of four kids, small-town dynamics, and the lingering scars of the past, they must decide if their pretend romance is worth the risk of losing their friendship forever. If you crave a heartwarming hockey romance that balances laugh-out-loud moments with tender, emotional depth, this story of second chances and unexpected love will stay with you long after the final page.

Funny & Sweet Best To Lovers! Fake marriage turns into real feelings for the win!

Omg Scroing Chance by AJ Turman is one of my top reads of 2026! I love the tropes in this book so much! Hockey players, best friends To lovers, fake dating/marriage, and single dad romance. 🥰😍😆🏒 The chemistry between Des & Tanner is so amazing. I love how they are always they for each other since high school. Des is there for Tanner after even more after Tanner's wife passeed away. Des cares so much for Tanner and his 4 children. Des and Tanner marry so Tanner and his 4 kids can have health insurance when Tanner is let go from his job. Des becomes such a great step-dad to Tanner's kids. Tanner also makes sure Des knows how much cares for him to and listen to him and support him as well. Tanner gives support to Des's treatments and cancer recovery. 🥰💕 The kids Lena, Lulu, Dean, and Davy are also great side characters. I love how the kids support the fake marriage that turns into a real marriage for Des & Tanner. Des & Tanner hockey team player best friends are also supportive and happy Des and Tanner fell in love too. 😆 I adore the Chance- Desmond family so much their chaos and how much they love each other. I love all the high jinx the family gets into. This book made me laugh, cry, and jump for joy and also fan myself too with the spicy scenes.🥰😍🥵🥹 The spicy between Des & Tanner are so good. 🥰🥵 I love how you can feel the chemistry, yearning, and passion between. So good!

Des and Tanner have been best friends for a very long time. They’ve been there for one another at the worst times of their lives, like when Des went through chemo and when Tanner lost his wife. There is nothing these two wouldn’t do for one another. So when Tanner unexpectedly loses his job and is worried about how he is going to take care of his four kids, Des comes up with a bit of a crazy plan. Getting married. If they are married Tanner and his family will be on his insurance in case something happens while Tanner finds a new job. So that is what they do. But things get complicated quick when Des finds out that he is up for a promotion and the person promoting him learns he is recently married and likes to see him settled. He can’t tell him the marriage is a sham to help his best friend. They’ll have to fake it. Even if it means moving in with Tanner’s family. But the lines begin to blur between what is real and not real. And they’ll have to figure out if crossing the line from friends to more is worth the risk. For Des, he never imagined settling down. Not with how he grew up. He was so sure that being with one person, having a family, it wasn’t for him. But being with Tanner? Spending time with his kids who he has known their entire lives? It hits him different and for the first time he wonders if this is what home feels like. And for Tanner, losing his wife and raising his four kids alone has been the hardest thing he has had to face. But he’s doing it. And now…
