Description

Archie is a man with a plan, and that plan involves getting even with the ex who wronged him. But when his elaborate revenge scheme goes hilariously sideways, he finds himself tangled up with Leo, a grumpy, high-strung surgeon who is the polar opposite of Archie’s sunshine-filled chaos. Forced into a proximity neither of them wanted, these two men are about to discover that the best laid plans often lead exactly where you never expected. This sharp, laugh-out-loud romantic comedy balances witty banter with the high stakes of a medical setting and a dash of suspense. As Archie and Leo navigate a series of disastrous mishaps, their initial friction sparks into something far more complicated and undeniably tender. The chemistry between them is electric, turning a mission of petty vengeance into a journey of genuine connection. If you love a classic grumpy-sunshine dynamic paired with a plot that keeps you guessing, this story delivers the perfect blend of humor and heart. It is a delightfully entertaining, feel-good read that proves sometimes the biggest mistakes are actually the best things that could ever happen to you. Prepare to fall for this unlikely pair as they turn a mess into a masterpiece.

The definition of witty repartee.

This is hands down the funniest, sharpest, sweetest book I’ve read. The banter between Archie and Leo made me laugh out loud so many times the dog finally went somewhere else so he could sleep undisturbed. I am usually a fast reader but found myself savoring every bit a dialogue and descriptions to make I didn’t miss anything. Loved loved loved!

Send in the Clowns

4/5 stars Jax Calder's "Revenge Club" series continues with this installment focusing on Leo Brennan, whom we met in the first entry in the series when he tried to be the voice of common sense with his friend Andrew's revenge initiative. Ironically but fortunately for readers, Leo is not nearly as good at following his own advice when his own impulsive attempt at retribution goes comically awry. Leo unwittingly changes his own life one evening in a London restaurant when he sees someone he believes to be Vaughn Mansley, a one-time friend who wronged Leo in the past. Leo decides to "accidentally" spray him with maple syrup, only to have this plan go wrong in two ways: (1) his victim breaks his ankle in the ensuing chaos and (2) his victim turns out to be Vaughn's younger brother Archie. Motivated by guilt, Leo tries to make amends to Archie and soon finds himself in a series of ridiculous, humiliating situations mischievously engineered by Archie, who realizes that Vaughn was Leo's target though he doesn't know why. Attraction and then love develop despite the obstacles posed by both men's secrets. Calder knows how to serve up the charm and the heart in these stories, and "The Revenge Mishap" doesn't disappoint. Leo and Archie make an appealing couple and Calder mines a lot of humor from their mind games (though, honestly, a few of the things Archie does really do cross certain lines; if I were Leo, I'd have walked and not looked back, but that's probably why I'm not…
