Description

Seventeen is supposed to be the year of carefree memories and endless possibilities, but for Maya, it feels like a cage of expectations. She spends her days navigating the quiet hallways of her high school and the unspoken pressures of her future, feeling like a ghost in her own life. That is until she meets Chloe, a girl whose existence is as vibrant and unpredictable as a summer storm. Their connection is immediate, terrifying, and undeniably real. As they navigate the delicate, messy landscape of first love, they find themselves caught between the comfort of who they were told to be and the exhilarating truth of who they are becoming. This is a story about the ache of discovery, the courage required to be vulnerable, and the transformative power of finding someone who finally sees you. Readers call this a profound emotional rollercoaster that lingers long after the final page. It captures the raw, beautiful intensity of youth with a grace that resonates with anyone who has ever searched for their place in the world. Whether you are looking for a deeply moving romance or a reflection on the bravery of being yourself, this story promises to change the way you see love.

I hated this book

But I also really really loved it. When it first came out I read the summary and decided not to read it and took it off of my TBR list because I wasn’t in a place mentally that I could handle it. I just got the notification that the second book came out and decided that I would spend the weekend reading both books. The story and the way it’s told and flows captures you and pulls you in from the first sentence and it wraps its vines around your heart so intricately that you feel warm and fuzzy, and then it starts to squeeze and it’s a pressure in your chest, but it keeps getting tighter and then it hurts, and you find yourself in another room from your wife reading the last few chapters, completely sobbing and not at all in control or your emotions. This one left me emotional for days. It was such a beautiful love story and told impeccably. I loved it so much, but I have completely been torn in two. The book and story are 10/10, but the sadness I feel leaves me 2/10. You should definitely read this, if you’re curious but be prepared to cry, or sob in my case. Well done it was another fantastic journey through your words.

"Live like Willow"

I can't put into words how much this story affects me. I believe this is the best love story I have ever read. I also believe it's a book everyone should read. Although I have always dreamed of a love like this, it's passed me by. I have reread this book so many times over the last year, when I first read it on Kindle unlimited and then bought it, that I've lost count. I reread it every couple of months, and I still laugh and cry just as much as I did the first time I read this story. It has had such a profound effect on the way I approach life. I try to "live like Willow" as much as possible. Thank you, Erica, for writing such a beautiful story. As I've already stated, I highly recommend that everyone should read this book. I absolutely love all the characters in this story, from the main characters to all the supporting characters. I hope that everyone who reads this book is affected by the story as much as I have and that they, too, "live like Willow."
