Description

In the quiet hallways of high school, Jade spent her years blending into the background, a shy soul who never sought the spotlight. People looked right through her, never realizing that underneath her unassuming exterior lay a vibrant, complex woman waiting for the right moment to bloom. When life eventually forces a collision between Jade and an unexpected spark, the carefully constructed walls around her heart begin to crumble, revealing a journey of self-discovery that is as poignant as it is transformative. This story is a masterclass in emotional resonance, capturing the delicate evolution of a woman finding her voice and the courage to love authentically. It explores the profound vulnerability of being truly seen by someone else and the quiet power of choosing one’s own path. With prose that feels both intimate and expansive, the narrative pulls you into a world of genuine human connection, proving that the most life-changing transformations often begin with the simplest acts of bravery. If you are looking for a heartfelt romance that celebrates the beauty of becoming who you were always meant to be, this luminous tale will stay with you long after the final page is turned.

A really sweet love story

This one brings out all the feels. During her high school days, Jade wasn't trying to be someone she wasn't. Quiet and shy, no one really knew her. Monica had spent her whole life trying to live up to her parents standards. Few people knew her real self, in fact, she really didn't either! When Jade (who went by Mystique in high school) met up with her crush 15 years after school, she never expected anything to come of it. Monica was a tv news persona now who had a not so good reputation in the "friendly" department. Seemed to Jade that not much had changed with Monica thru the years. What happens next? Of course, that's the whole story. What a sweet story it is. It was very satisfying to read how their lives came together after realizing neither was really what they had seemed to be so many years ago. I totally enjoyed this book.

This is a story about crushes and how they are important but it's what they evolve into that matters. This story is well written and leaves you wanting more! Well done!

Star of a book

I was going to start this review of Abigail' book, with what a way she has with words. But it is not enough. She has such a way with people and thoughts and feelings. Her words just grab me each time and don't let go. She nails Monica to a tee. Beautiful, Head Cheerleader, dating the quarterback. Parents have money. But Monica is just playing a part, and she never stops. Mystique/Jade is the outcast. Picked on, bullied. She gets through high school with her drawings of her muse, Monica, as her support. In present day, Monica is a tv newscaster. Jade is a star in the making with her dress design business. Chance throws them together, and it just warms my heart. It was so feel good, it brought tears to my eyes. I don't do crying. But. I hope you give this wonderful book a try. Not just this book, but all of Abigail Taylor's book. You will not be disappointed.
