Great story overall but it desperately needs better editing

I gave this book 4 stars because it truly does have great potential but in its current state, the editing makes it 3 stars, at best. This author always sucks me in with her story telling but the poor editing is, at points, too distracting to appreciate the story being told. Grammar, sentence structure, wrong word choice litters this book and drags down the overall quality. I love Harlow and Cat’s story and I even love how dark and deranged this book gets at points but it needs an overhaul of editing to make it the 5 star book it has the potential to be. I’ll continue to read this author’s work but I truly hope her next body of work is given the quality editing it deserves.

Love the concept and the execution

Huge into mafia stories and finding the exact type I want can feel hard to come by. I also appreciate when stories aren’t afraid to go really dark. Only issue I had, is that there was such an insane amount of filler. I totally appreciate how in love these two were, but every single time they had a conversation, no matter which character we were with, we had to stop and dive into how much in love they were, and go back about how much one was helping the other through their trauma and to become better, etc. A little bit of that here and there, and maybe one big moment of epiphany makes sense, but it seemed like it was every single time they spoke, we stopped to add paragraphs and paragraphs of filler. I got to a point where I was just skipping it finally because it felt like we were just going in circles. You’re gonna get me every time with a sapphic mafia story, and I genuinely appreciate how the story was not afraid to go as far as it went. I just wish we didn’t have to keep going back to add more fluff.

Needed Editing

This was a good story and a good follow up to the first book, but it really needed editing down. It was extremely repetitive and could have easily been 100+ pages shorter without taking away from the story. I ended up skimming entire chapters because of it. Still worth a read if you enjoyed the first one.
