Description

Conrad Stafford has spent his life building walls around his heart, constructed from grit, silence, and the brutal reality of the underground fighting circuit. He is a man defined by the scars on his skin and the ghosts in his past, perfectly content to remain a mystery to everyone he encounters. That is, until a single, quiet question shatters his carefully guarded composure. When an unexpected connection begins to flicker between Conrad and the one person who dares to see past his hardened exterior, the boundaries between his survival instincts and his deepest desires blur. This is not a typical love story; it is a raw, intense exploration of vulnerability found in the most unlikely places. Set against the high-stakes backdrop of professional fighting, the tension is suffocating, and the stakes could not be higher. Readers who crave authentic, character-driven narratives will find themselves pulled into this atmospheric world of shadows and longing. With its perfect balance of grit and heart, this story captures the heavy price of protection and the transformative power of being truly known. Prepare for a visceral experience that lingers long after the final page, proving that sometimes, the hardest fights are the ones we wage against ourselves.

ARC Review - The Fighter by Viv Allen

ARC Review - The Fighter by Viv Allen “What’s your name?” That was all it took for Conrad Stafford to begin to crack the incredibly harden exterior of Husk - or Tav as he so intimately shared this sacred name with a perfect stranger. One offer. Ten minutes. Take it or leave it. With bated breath Conrad waited for Tav not knowing this night would change the course of his entire existence. With a hot and steamy one night stand between two unlikely lovers, leading to breathless, desperate chance encounters to relive their desires from that night in question. “I wanted to be surrounded by Con, consumed by him.” This book kept me on edge, kept me turning the page to see what would come next. Locked in on the fated connection, an invisible tether between them. The spice in this book is hot, it builds and is written unlike any other writer I have read. “Where did you come from Tav? Where the hell did you come from?” “Why does it matter, when what’s important is I’m here right now.” The MMCs in this book are bound to not only each other in the bedroom, but to a fate that seems to be in the hands of each others worst nightmare. As their worst fears come to fruition, so too does their freedom of being shackled to the tortuous life they were leading. Together, the two of them face their fears, to become whole within each other. “You belong to me, and I will burn this city to the ground for you.” Tropes: Golden retriever/Black Cat Millionaire/Underground Fighter Age gap -…

Hooks you in immediately

4.5 stars Points taken off because like many others have stated, the amount of grammatical errors in this was jarring. It’s as if the author had no one proof it at all. Love how quickly it starts and hooks us in immediately. Very compelling. I am not a fan of BDSM so i liked how this toed the line where I was comfortable with it. I am not into any sort of pain. And neither are Conrad and Tav. SPOILERS LIKES I loved Tav showing up at Con’s apartment after one of his fights and how Con couldn’t say no. Con being at the fight was great too. I really enjoyed that and the aftermath when Tav was concussed and sharing his feelings for Con thinking he was hallucinating. Liked when Con allowed himself to be vulnerable with Tav. I enjoyed Nik and Holden a lot. DISLIKES I’m not a huge fan of insta love and it felt unrealistic that Con was willing to go against Devin before Tav and Con exchanged I love yous. I didn’t love how Con manipulated Tav with sex but it wasn’t terrible. Didn’t put me off Con. Hated that Devlin wasn’t killed. I’m shocked that the author is writing a book for him. I thought for sure it was going to be a Nik/Ben falling for each other story. Devlin is vile and irredeemable so confused about this. Overall this was a very enjoyable read and I’d definitely recommend.

Best Read of 2026

I am an avid mm dark romance reader and I can't believe I've never come across this author. This book was perfection. Some people comment on misspellings but honestly I was so engaged that I never even noticed. While the story is an instalove it's not an instaHEA. That takes a roller coaster ride. But what they do have is instant devotion. There are amazing characters and World building that you feel immersed in the storyline. The spice is 🥵🌶🌶🌶🌶 bit with minimal kink. Just a great book. Cant wait for the rest of the series.
