The Housemistress

I loved the story. It was a bit slow at first. Seemed like it took forever for the love interests to do anything. Every time they started to make out they were interrupted. I was like "Bro! Enough already!!" But they finally had sex and it was soooo hot. Great plot twist too. And a happy ending. Loved it. And personally I don't care that the student was only 17 and the teacher was 31. I mean it's just fiction. This isn't real life. I say just read the story and enjoy the ride. It's a good one.

Telford's erotica is interesting if slightly peculiar. For me this book (as well as Cadence) walks an uneasy line between hot and creepy: either the age-difference thing works for you or it doesn't. Ditto student/teacher. The writing is good, but I can't figure out who her intended audience is supposed to be. The books don't read as entirely convincing as "lesbian". Unlike so many other self-published authors, Telford has real chops. (And someone actually took the trouble to proofread - spelling, grammar, it's all very clean, although the constant translation of the most basic French gets old fast, and reads as padding after awhile.) The issue is that Telford is working off Victorian-era, straight-porn templates. These include many of the most basic tropes: naughty student/schoolteacher; girl's "virginity" being "taken" (an especially weird conceit in any kind of lesbian scenario, even fantasy); initiation of young/eager females into sexuality, etc. The problem imo is that such templates only get you so far when writing for an (ostensibly) lesbian readership: past a certain point they just do not translate. The other problem is that Telford is great on the slow-build; I find her payoff scenes less successful. So even if you are willing to go down these paths, the books don't quite deliver. The more extended, explicit scenes seem less sure-footed. The writing is more formulaic. (No idea why so many writers of lesbian erotica seem preoccupied with the Feeldoe, as if there's…

Both main characters were strongly represented by the author. Rylee and Viviene were described tastefully. The plot was unique as the setting was in a girls school. The drama was nail biting at times, and was appropriately written to keep the readers full attention. The supporting characters added colorful depth to the storyline. The sex scenes were steamy but well written. Over a very good read.
