Description

Professional hockey player Elias Thorne has spent his entire career keeping his head down and his heart locked away. With the trade deadline looming and his team struggling to find their rhythm, he expects nothing more than another grueling winter on the ice. That is until Caleb, a charming and persistent newcomer with a smile that threatens to dismantle Elias’s carefully constructed walls, joins the roster. Set against the backdrop of a glittering, snowy season, this story captures the tension of the rink and the warmth of a burgeoning connection. As the holidays approach, the pressure to perform on the ice is only matched by the growing electricity between two men who are beginning to realize they want the same thing. What starts as a professional partnership quickly shifts into something far more personal, forcing Elias to choose between the safety of his solitude and the risk of a life-changing love. This is a heartfelt, spicy, and fast-paced romance that perfectly blends high-stakes sports action with the cozy spirit of the festive season. Readers love the sharp dialogue, the undeniable chemistry, and the way these two characters navigate the challenges of finding home in one another. It is the perfect winter escape.

Loved it

Really solid hockey romance. I liked this author's first book, and I think this one is even better – the pacing and the balance of dialogue to introspection to action were spot on this time. I really liked both Ryan and Lars. They are both well rounded characters, and their relationship was compelling and believable. The dual POV was very well done. The characters have distinct enough voices that I don't think I ever had to flip back to the beginning of the chapter to check whose POV it was. The plot was not particularly unique, but who cares when the story is well written? I enjoyed every minute reading this book, and I think after this, AL Heard is going on my list of authors who I will automatically preorder from.

satisfying

I liked the characters she created. People are just weird, including athletes in love. Which seems really realistic. Fun read.

Looooved it!

This story is so fun and sweet. The characters are delightful and engaging, the hockey is intense, and I like the spice too. I read the whole thing in a day because I couldn't put it down. I really like this author a lot, and that they continue their books with short stories on their own website, so I can revisit the characters in little vignettes.
