Description

Detective Elena Vance has spent her entire career keeping her walls high and her heart hidden behind a badge. As a lead investigator for the Phoenix Ridge Police Department, she knows the risks of mixing business with pleasure, especially when the stakes are life and death. But when a high-profile case forces her into an undercover assignment, she finds herself paired with Sarah Miller, a brilliant and guarded officer whose presence threatens to dismantle every barrier Elena has constructed. Forced to pose as a couple to infiltrate a dangerous criminal underworld, the line between professional duty and undeniable chemistry begins to blur. Every stolen glance in the shadows and every brush of skin during their charade ignites a fire that neither woman can ignore. As the investigation intensifies, they must navigate the treacherous landscape of their own growing desires while keeping their cover intact. This steamy sapphic romance delivers a perfect blend of high-stakes suspense and deep, emotional intimacy. It is a story about two heroic women finding solace in each other amidst the chaos of their duty. Another griper with a great ending.

Emily Hayes’ story lines are very similar in the path they travel. The beginning is an introduction to characters that aren’t on the same page, but need to find a way to work together to find a winning end. In this book can Reyes and Walsh pretend to be in a committed relationship while investigating a women’s center importing drugs? Five days prior to going undercover they meet for the first time. The real action is in the middle of the book and the ending holds the final conclusions and answers. The one thing I would like to see in future books is the addition of past characters. This storyline required financial documentation to make charges fit. One of Ms. Hayes’ previous PRPD books had a financial analyst that might have assisted in this undercover operation. That’s just my thought, but the book is well worth the read.

I'm over these cookie cutter books

After reading this book, I'm thinking Emily Hayes is Grace Parkes or they're working together on cranking out books in a short space of time. I do like the stories but they're similar in so many ways. Main characters getting shot and losing a lot of blood and almost dying, and a five year epilogue at the end. Can anyone recommend something that isn't so similar that the only thing that changes is the names of the main characters?
