Description

The bond between Wren and her best friend has always been the steady heartbeat of her life, a constant source of warmth in a world that often feels cold. They have navigated every trial together, their friendship built on a foundation of shared secrets and unspoken understanding. Yet, beneath the surface of their unbreakable connection lies a simmering, undeniable attraction that neither dares to name for fear of losing the only home they have ever known. When a sudden, life-altering shift forces them into the cramped confines of a car for an unexpected road trip, the carefully constructed walls between them begin to crumble. As the miles unfurl, the silence of the open road gives way to honest confessions and the terrifying, beautiful realization that their feelings have outgrown the boundaries of friendship. This journey becomes a tender exploration of healing, vulnerability, and the courage it takes to reach for the person who has been by your side all along. This story captures the aching sweetness of falling for your best friend, proving that sometimes the greatest love stories are the ones that have been waiting in plain sight, just waiting for the right moment to bloom.

The story is perfect, but...

It's one of the archetypal stories of the friends-to-lovers toaster oven trope and I adore it. And the author presented it faithfully. But this could have been three times as long, and it would have been better for the fleshing out. I would have loved to have seen the drama with Nelly's parents, I would have loved to have seen Nelly going from the floor in front of the fireplace to "I love you," and I would have loved to have seen more internal conflict in Wren as the war between protecting Nelly and loving her raged in her head. Overall, lovely book and a fun read. I just think it really could have been more.

Best Sapphic Romance I’ve read

Even though this was short and sweet it was amazing! I wish this could have been a whole book. I enjoy everything Ashley writes and this wasn’t the exception. Both characters were beautiful and there was an undeniable connection! The friendship was nice, the spice was enjoyable. Yes! Very nice!
